Maintain A Spotless Kitchen With These Genius Hacks
Keeping your kitchen clean every day is essential. It’s not one of those parts of the house you can clean once every two weeks. Because meals are made here, and almost every family member spends time in the kitchen, you must maintain its cleanliness and organization! Plus, keeping the kitchen clutter-free allows for smooth and easy completion of different chores and tasks around the house. Simply put, aiming for a spotless kitchen is worth the effort! So, read on and learn how to keep your kitchen neat and organized.
1. The Sink
Always keep your sink empty and clean. Do not leave dirty dishes and messy tools overnight—or worse, for days! Make sure to clean your sink with cleaning sprays, antibacterial wipes, a water-vinegar mix, or with some hot soapy water. This is tough, considering all washing and draining are done in the sink, but by doing these things regularly, you’ll have a clean sink every day!
2. The Refrigerator
It’s very distressing to open your fridge and be greeted with an unrecognizable stench! So, once in a while, remove all the contents of your fridge and give it a good scrubbing. Use equal parts white vinegar and water to wash both the inside and outside of the refrigerator. Put a box of baking soda in your fridge to keep it smelling fresh and clean when you’re done. The exterior can be cleaned with a regular cleaner, or a stainless steel cleaner if your fridge calls for it.
3. The Countertop
Keep your countertop clean and clutter free. Minimize the number of items on your counters. Wipe spillage immediately before they get sticky and stinky to save yourself a lot of extra work. Remember: a countertop is for enjoying quick meals and a quick conversation, not for little kitchen supplies piling one on top of the other!
4. The Floor
You should get into the habit of giving your floor a good sweep every day. Vacuum or sweep your kitchen floor, and mop it using the right kind of cleaning solution for your floor type. You may also add a couple of drops of essential oil to the mixture to give the room a refreshing scent. Clean up excess moisture with a towel, and allow the floor to dry completely before stepping on it again.
5. The Pantry
Anything that’s been sitting in your pantry for more than a year may have already gone stale. So, throw them out! Not only are you risking accidentally including them in your meals, you’re also creating the perfect environment for bacteria and molds in your pantry. Don’t wait for your pantry to smell!
6. The Appliances
Keep your appliances clean. Following proper cleaning and maintenance is the best way to make them last longer. Doing this will save you a lot of cash, and spare you the headache of replacing them frequently. Remember to follow the safe procedures when cleaning your appliances. Wear gloves to protect your hands from chemical cleaners and to avoid burns and cuts.
7. The Dishwasher
Remove and clean the filter of your dishwasher by wiping the insides of the machine with a cloth soaked in warm, soapy water. Whip out a vinegar solution and pour it into a wash cycle to get rid of any grime. Wipe the exterior as well with a cloth and an all-purpose cleaner. Then, polish everything with a dry cloth.
8. The Cupboards and Drawers
I know we’ve all bought items in our cupboards and drawers which never got to see the light again. Every once in a while, remove all the items in your cupboards and drawers, and wipe them clean individually. For the cupboards and drawers themselves, use a microfiber cloth to clean them, and sprinkle baking soda over stains. Scrub everything out with a sponge, and dry it. Donate any excess utensils and cookware, or throw away any broken dishes and mismatched silverware. Finally, clean the exterior of your cupboards and drawers.
